Mission272+ Volunteers from the North Eastern states of Assam and Manipur spoke their heart out on the Guwahati and Imphal Open forums. Illegal immigration and lack of development remained the focal point of many comments.

We round up the most relevant suggestions and pressing issues from our enthusiastic Volunteers belonging to the North Eastern states of Assam and Manipur.

Guwahati

Jute , rice & tea industry can flourish at tremendous pace but the govt does not encourage them. Bangladeshis have ruined the economy here. creating imbalance.

There is no good hospital in the north east, no good education colleges apart from the IIT here. People are forced to move to other cities for even basic facilities of health & education. what has the congress govt done? It only gives free laptops for votes.

The “hs tet” date has been forwarded to 8th Feb instead of 9th Feb to stop people from going to Modi jis rally..it’s for the first time in history that an exam date has been forwarded,else that get delayed..

Continuous infiltration from Bangladesh has ruined the economy of Assam..still govt is blind & they say there is no such problem..

Assam chief minister says Assam is the land of “lahe lahe” means slowly slowly..why development should be lahe lahe?? Why can’t be it fast??

Bodos in relief camps should get better aid. BJP should ensure their rehabilitation.

Connectivity to Assam is only through the most sensitive district – Dhubri. BJP should improve road connectivity from Bengal to Brahmaputra valley.

I suggest BJP to rope in with tea garden workers, Koch & Rajbanshi’s and other 6 tribes who are fighting for SC/ST status

Imphal

In Imphal rally please focus on development of North East and unity. Let them make feel that they are very important to India.

Modi ji announce to establish a Cultural University and research center specially based on North east culture and heritage.

Promise that you would ensure that each & every illegal migrant is deported to Bangladesh. Save the indigenous & ethnic population of Assam.

Please form a department that searches illegal immigrants and deports them. Strict border policing, and fencing must be expedited.

In both the education and health sectors the quality of governance needs to be improved. The decentralization of administration has to be strengthened. It has been observed that funds allocated to the lower level bodies were not being released to them.

Shortsightedness in not focusing on harnessing huge hydro power potential of Myanmar, over 100000 MW, for mutual benefits of two countries.

Loss of Myanmar Gas from A1 Block to China in 2008 despite 10% investment by GAIL/ONGC and 90% by Daewoo, due to indecisiveness since 2004

Synergies to provide better connectivity between Brahmaputra valley and Barak valley.

North east should have parliament house for few months every year. Assam corridor which is main artery to north east should be well protected. Tourism to north east to be increased with all international level facility.

For Manipur, some of the most important issues are: 1) Better and more connectivity via rail, air and Roads 2 ) Trade with neighbouring countries 3) Good primary and higher education 4) Industries and employment opportunities

AFSPA should be replace with another act.

Corruption in the recruitment of police should be checked(9-20 lakhs for a post).

Lots of prospect for Tourism sector(developing Loktak lake,Lokoi as tourist hot spots).

6-7 hours of electricity in my city(Imphal City) even though Loktak produce 140MW Manipur which required 170MW , got share of 45-116MW from others.

Should develop as Sports Power House.

Subsidise airfare for students twice a year as air is the mode of transportation for many students.

Avenue for export of handicrafts and hand-loom product should be made by the govt.

Meanwhile there is already much support for Narendra Modi and a lot of buzz regarding his upcoming rallies
