Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Khodaldham Agri Vision India 2014 at Kagwad in Rajkot, Gujarat. On the occasion Mr. Modi emphasized on the significance of Agriculture to our Economy, and he underscored the need to embrace science and technology to make Farming modern.
The speech of Mr. Modi showed his vision for the development of the agriculture in India. Here are the main points from Mr. Modi’s speech:
“Land is not going to increase. It is about increasing productivity, getting more from the land. Value addition will always help and the farmer will gain more.”
Mr. Modi stressed on the aspect of value addition for agriculture, and stated that there was the need for farmers to understand the importance of micro irrigation.
He spoke about the adoption of micro irrigation and drip irrigation methods by the farmers of Banaskantha, and the revolutionary change this had brought in the overall quality of the produce and the productivity, whilst ensuring saving of water and electricity.
He spoke about the rising preference in the State for Green houses and cited the government’s support extended to ensure the same.

Mr. Modi ended his speech by requesting the UPA government to allow Gujarat to install gates on the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
