On his visit to Pune, Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sadhu Vaswani College of Nursing and talked of the bond between a guru and a ‘shishya’ saying that it is relatively easy to find a good teacher but to find a disciple that is worthier is a rather difficult task and said it must be the blessings of such saints that he has been able to do the kind of work he has.

Mr. Modi pointed out that in Gujarat they have been able to extend healthcare facilities to even the cattle, as a result of which 112 cattle related diseases in the sate have been eradicated.

With regard to girl child education, he says that he shares the concern with Sadhu Vaswani. In order to encourage girls to enroll in schools his government built toilets in schools because of the lack of which girls would leave school. Today Gujarat has 100 per cent female enrollment in schools.

The Chief Minister added that only in India where the female form is also worshiped. In rest of the world it is the male form primarily. On a lighter note he said that in his opinion God’s cabinet is made up entirely of females.

In India there is a concept of not only live and let live but also ‘help others live’. We are one step ahead of tolerance, we are very accepting as a nation. It is deeply ingrained in our value system.
